Expert Renovation, Extension & Alteration Solutions
Homes evolve with the people who live in them. Maybe you need an extra bedroom, a bigger entertainment area, or a smarter flow between kitchen, dining, and patio.
Good renovations don’t just bolt on more space — they solve daily frustrations: dark rooms, awkward circulation, not enough storage, cold draughts, or a kitchen that turns cooking into a mission.
We focus on practical design, durable construction, and clean detailing so the new work feels like it was always part of the house.
Whether you’re opening up living areas, adding a second storey, converting a garage, or building a new master suite, we’ll help you balance structure, services, and finishes.
That means assessing load paths before removing walls, making sure plumbing and electrics can handle the upgrade, and choosing finishes that stand up to family life.
We also think ahead: where to hide services, how to insulate and ventilate properly, where natural light will make the biggest difference, and how to keep maintenance simple.
Common Renovation Challenges We Solve
Choppy, closed layouts – load-bearing walls blocking light and flow.
Tiny kitchens/living areas – spaces that don’t match modern family life.
Underused garages/outbuildings – great candidates for habitable conversion.
Poor insulation & ventilation – hot in summer, cold in winter, condensation issues.
Outdated services – old plumbing, limited electrical capacity, non-compliant wiring.
Add-ons that don’t match – extensions that look tacked on instead of seamless.
Our Approach to Renovations, Extensions & Alterations
Every successful renovation starts with good planning. We begin with a site visit to understand how you use the space today and what needs to change — light, flow, storage, privacy, and how rooms connect.
We review the structure (roof, foundations, load-bearing walls) and services (plumbing, electrical), then map options that make sense for your budget and timeline.
If your project needs them, we handle professional drawings and approvals: architectural plans, council submissions in line with SANS 10400, engineer input for structural elements, and compliance certificates on completion (Electrical CoC, PIRB plumbing where applicable).
For second-storey additions or large openings, a structural engineer designs beams, lintels, and foundations so everything is safe and signed off.
On site, we sequence the build to reduce disruption: demolition and propping, structural work, rough-in services, windows and doors, insulation and drywall/brickwork, plastering, waterproofing, finishes (tiling, flooring, cabinetry, painting), then final fixtures and snagging.
We protect existing areas, manage dust and noise, keep access routes clear, and communicate progress clearly so there are no surprises.
Before handover, we test plumbing and electrics, check falls and waterproofing in wet areas, validate glazing and insulation where specified, and work through a tidy snag list together.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need plans and approvals for my renovation or extension?
Often, yes. Structural changes, extensions, new windows/doors in certain walls, and garage conversions typically require council-approved plans in line with SANS 10400. We work with architects and engineers to prepare drawings, submit to council, and secure approvals. Smaller internal cosmetic changes might not need plans — we’ll advise after a site check.
Can I live in the house during the renovation?
Usually. We plan works in phases, isolate dusty areas, and maintain essential services as far as practical. For bigger structural jobs or wet-area overhauls, there may be short periods where a room is offline — we’ll flag those upfront and help plan around them.
I want to remove a wall to open my living space. Is it possible?
In many cases, yes — but only with the right structural design. We determine whether the wall is load-bearing, then have an engineer specify beams/lintels and supports. Done properly, you get the open plan feel without compromising safety.
How long will my renovation take?
Timelines depend on scope. A garage-to-room conversion or small extension might run 3–6 weeks. A major internal reconfiguration or second-storey addition can take 8–16+ weeks, especially with custom joinery or long-lead windows/doors. We provide a realistic programme once drawings and selections are agreed.
What drives the cost the most?
Structure (steel/RC beams, foundations), window/door quantities, kitchen/bathroom scope, finishes (flooring, tiles, joinery), and service upgrades (DB board, additional circuits, new plumbing runs) are the big levers. After a site visit and concept, we’ll issue an itemised quote with options so you can prioritise where to spend or save.
